Loaded Lettuce Burgers

One response to a whole season of eating nothing but bread 3x per day is a lettuce burger packed with herbs.

Ingredients

1 lb ground pork

1 lb Italian sausage (breakfast sausage is good, too)

1 bunch summer savory

1 bunch scallions

1/2 tsp sea salt

Head of lettuce

Process

Strip the summer savory from its stems. Trim off the root ends of the scallions. Chop everything small, but you don’t have to go crazy on the herb chopping. Dump the herbs and scallions into a medium bowl, and sprinkle in the salt.

Add the raw ground pork and Italian sausage to the bowl, and mix everything together with your clean hands. Form into patties of whatever size you like.

Grill or pan-fry the burgers. Top with aioli and ginger carrots or sauerkraut, and make lettuce buns out of 2 or 3 big, beautiful pieces of lettuce.
